there is a lot of synthetic beta carotene on the market. The synthetic has a mirror image molecular construction of naturally occurring beta-carotene and behaves very differently in the body... and detrimentally.....In fact some cancer studies indicate it can cause cancer... the solgar is algae sourced so you receive the correct molecular form of beta carotene and a few other naturally occurring carotenoids which are synergistic and help the beta carotene work better in your body.. I slice open the end with a single edraiser blade and only use half the contents per day has too much beta-carotene can dominate and block other carotenoids... I researched and used this company for many years and they always have some of the highest standards of quality
